SuperVerse

Memorize this together as a family this week!

“It was by faith that the people of Israel marched around Jericho for seven days, and the walls came crashing down.”

Hebrews 11:30 (NLT)

ACTIVITY: MARCHING GAME

How to play.

Prepare:
Bible or the Superbook Bible App

Chair (You need to make a large circle with the chairs facing outward and make sure there is one less chair than the children) – see the illustration

Play:

We are going to play a version of musical chairs where the chairs represent the walls of Jericho. And guess what? Instead of walk, we will march!

Please form a circle around the chairs. Thank you for your obedience. As you march around the chairs, I need you to completely silent like Joshua’s army and you are not allowed to talk.

When I say ‘March around Jericho!’, you need to march in unison around the chairs. I will then shout out the numbers one through seven in random order.

But when I shout out the number ‘7’, you must shout our SuperTruth today and try to sit down in one of the chairs. Children who are left without a chair will be eliminated and one chair is removed so there is always one less chair than the children.

The marching resumes when you say ‘March around Jericho!’ and begin to shout the number again. Keep the game interesting by varying your cadence and timing to shout out the numbers.

It is either you go slow, speed up, and repeat a number or say number ‘7’ immediately after they start to march. Repeat this game until there is only one child left which is the winner.

Say:

The walls of Jericho were tall and thick but with God we can overcome the obstacles. Nothing can stand against God! Shout out the SuperTruth together as a family and raise your hands in victory! “With Christ I can overcome all obstacles”

Discussion:

  1. Have you ever run into obstacle that kept you from accomplishing something? (We all have. But we can overcome everything when we have faith in Christ)
  2. Have you ever faced an obstacle in a relationship like Joy? How did you overcome it? (Read Proverbs 15:1) If we speak kindly, we can help make peace; but if we speak in a mean way, people will get mad.
  3. What are some things we can do to stay strong and overcome the situation? (Say no, run from the situation, pray, read the Bible, or talk to our parents) Let us shout our SuperTruth today!

PRAY: Heavenly Father, we praise You for giving us a special gift. You live inside us, protect us and give us wisdom. Thank You for giving us everything that we need to overcome any obstacle. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
